The new dual-purpose instrument combines high-voltage insulation testing up to 20 GΩ with comprehensive electrical measurement capabilities for field electricians.

A new handheld digital insulation resistance tester by KUSAM-MECO is designed for high-voltage diagnostic work is now available for electrical maintenance professionals. The 1000V DC instrument integrates insulation testing and full multimeter functionality into a single portable device, reducing the need to carry multiple tools during field operations.
Engineered for insulation resistance measurement of transformers, motors, cables, switches and other electrical apparatus, the tester offers selectable DC test voltages of 50V, 100V, 250V, 500V and 1000V. A key operational feature is real-time high-voltage indication, allowing users to continuously monitor the actual output voltage during testing. This improves measurement transparency and enhances safety awareness in high-voltage environments.
The key features are:
- Selectable DC insulation test voltages: 50V to 1000V
- Insulation resistance measurement up to 20 GΩ
- Real-time display of actual high test voltage
- Integrated multimeter with AC/DC V, R, C, Hz, diode & continuity
- PI and DAR diagnostic testing functions
The instrument supports insulation resistance measurement up to 20 gigaohms, enabling diagnostics across low- and medium-voltage installations. Once a test cycle is completed, measured results can be held automatically, simplifying documentation and review.
Beyond insulation testing, the unit functions as a fully independent digital multimeter. The multimeter section operates separately from the insulation testing circuitry, helping maintain measurement clarity and operational safety. Standard DMM functions include AC and DC voltage, resistance, capacitance, frequency, diode testing and continuity checks, making it suitable for routine troubleshooting and electrical maintenance tasks.
The device also incorporates Polarization Index (PI) and Dielectric Absorption Ratio (DAR) testing capabilities, supporting deeper condition assessment of insulation systems. These diagnostic functions are particularly useful in preventive maintenance programs and industrial reliability applications.
Designed with portability and ergonomic handling in mind, the tester is supplied with batteries, test leads, a carrying case and user manual, allowing technicians to deploy it immediately in field conditions.
With its dual-instrument design, high resistance range and diagnostic features, the new handheld tester targets electricians and maintenance teams seeking a compact yet capable insulation testing solution.
