Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. has unveiled an automotive-grade power resistors: the Vishay Sfernice D2TO35M, a surface-mount thick film resistor tailored for demanding automotive applications. This advanced component is housed in a compact TO-263 (D2PAK) package and boasts AEC-Q200 qualification, ensuring it meets stringent automotive industry standards. The D2TO35M is designed to deliver multi-pulse capabilities alongside an impressive power dissipation capacity of 35 W at 25 °C, making it a reliable choice for high-performance scenarios.

Developed to outperform traditional TO-263 (D2PAK) resistors, it offers enhanced durability and reliability under repeated pulse stress conditions. This is demonstrated by its remarkable ability to maintain a maximum resistance drift of only 2% after 1,000 pulses and less than 5% drift even after enduring an extraordinary 100,000 pulses, all at a temperature of 25 °C. The device’s robust performance is complemented by its fast response times, featuring a turn-on time of just 500 milliseconds and a turn-off time of 11 seconds, along with the capacity to handle pulse energies up to 18.9 joules. Rigorous testing has shown that it can withstand 1,000 cycles of rapid temperature changes and offers a reliable load life of 1,000 hours.

  • Thermal Resistance: 4.28 °C/W for efficient heat management.  
  • TCR: ±150 ppm/°C ensures stability across temperature changes.  
  • Wide Operating Range: Functions reliably from -55 °C to +175 °C.  
  • Non-Inductive Design: Minimizes inductance for high-frequency applications.  
  • Broad Resistance Range: Available from 10 Ω to 10 kΩ.  
  • Tolerance Options: ±2%, ±5%, and ±10% for flexible precision requirements.  

The resistor’s technical specifications further highlight its capabilities. It adheres to RoHS compliance standards and is built to endure high-temperature solder reflow processes, withstanding up to 270 °C for 10 seconds. This makes it suitable for use in challenging environments while ensuring eco-friendly production standards.
