DISPLAY VISIONS has expanded its EA DOG series of flat display modules, delivering ultra-low power consumption and compact integration ideal for handheld and battery-operated electronics. Engineered to operate with a single 3.3 V supply and drawing only 150–350 µA in active mode—and as little as 2 µA in power-down—the modules are purpose-built for applications where energy efficiency and slim design are paramount. The optional LED backlight also operates at 3.3 V, requiring a modest 3 mA current, ensuring minimal drain on system resources.

The key features are:

  • 2 mm height (5.8 mm with backlight), ideal for space-limited designs
  • Direct PCB mount on 2.54 mm pitch—no additional sockets required
  • Available in 10 sizes with both text and graphic display options
  • Text display formats: 1×8, 2×16, 4×10 (switchable to 2×10), 4×16, and 4×20
  • Interface options include SPI, 4-/8-bit parallel, and I²C (on select models)

For more visually rich interfaces, five graphic display resolutions are available—from 122×32 up to 240×128 pixels—within module sizes ranging from 39×41 mm to 94×67 mm. Display technologies span STN and FSTN types, including reflective, transmissive, and blue, along with positive and negative variants. Six separate LED backlight colors—white, amber, blue, red, yellow/green, and RGB—enable customization for brand aesthetics or readability in varying environments.

A complete development ecosystem supports the series, including a USB test board for PC interfacing, Windows-based evaluation software, and a free simulator. Developers also benefit from readily available C and microcontroller code examples, easing system integration. With guaranteed long-term availability of up to ten years and low minimum order quantities (starting at just one unit), the EA DOG series brings industrial-grade display capability to compact, low-power designs.
