Vishay Intertechnology has released 16 new 200 V FRED Pt ultrafast rectifiers in a compact DFN6546A package, aimed at improving efficiency and saving board space in automotive, industrial, and consumer power systems. The devices are rated from 6 A to 15 A and are available in both commercial and AEC-Q101 automotive-qualified versions.

The parts use Vishay’s DFN6546A Power DFN package, which measures 6.5 mm × 4.6 mm with a very low height of 0.88 mm. Despite the smaller form factor, the design improves thermal performance through optimized copper layout and die placement, enabling higher current handling. Compared with similar 200 V devices in the SMPC (TO-277A) package, they reduce height by about 10% while increasing current capability by up to 50% in the same footprint.

These rectifiers are intended for use in high-frequency power conversion and protection circuits such as DC/DC converters, inverters, freewheeling diodes, snubbers, load dump protection, and reverse polarity protection. Typical automotive uses include ECUs, LED lighting, ADAS systems, lidar and camera modules, as well as 48 V platforms in EVs and HEVs, including onboard chargers and battery management systems. They are also suited to industrial automation, telecom, computing, medical equipment, consumer electronics, and energy harvesting applications.

Performance characteristics include a low forward voltage drop of 0.75 V, low reverse leakage, and fast switching behavior with reduced reverse recovery charge, all contributing to lower power losses. The devices operate across a wide temperature range from -55 °C to +175 °C.

The DFN6546A package also supports manufacturing efficiency, featuring wettable flanks for automatic optical inspection instead of X-ray inspection. The parts are designed for automated assembly, carry an MSL 1 moisture rating, withstand reflow temperatures up to 260 °C, and meet RoHS, halogen-free, and JESD 201 class 2 whisker test standards.
