Pulsonix, an Electronic Design Automation (EDA) company, has released Pulsonix Version 12.5, a significant update introducing numerous innovative features and enhancements to the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design industry. The company claims that the new tools empower engineers and designers to optimise their workflows, expedite time to market, and achieve exceptional design excellence. Version 12.5 incorporates animated 3D folding for flexi boards through which designers can visualise their flexi board designs with dynamic bends and curves that can be observed in real-time through realistic animations. By incorporating bend regions into PCB designs, engineers can precisely define how the folding will occur within the 3D Viewer, enabling visual confirmation of the board’s behaviour.

The company claims that the bend regions encompass details such as the bend’s size and direction/angle and include designated areas for Components and Vias to ensure compliance with Design Rule Checking (DRC) requirements. Apart from the existing Standard for the Exchange of Product Data (STEP) format, users can also export their designs as Stereolithography or Standard Tessellation Language (STL) files using the new version. Furthermore, users can also define exports as a single merged entity for both STEP and STL formats, reducing internal file complexity when individual PCB entities are optional. This enhanced flexibility facilitates smooth collaboration and integration between PCB design and mechanical design teams.

Version 12.5 leverages Graphics processing unit (GPU) acceleration to enhance graphics performance, even on standard computer hardware. Users can now adjust the level of hardware acceleration to strike the right balance between quality and performance, tailoring it to their specific needs. Additionally, the update introduces the ability to utilise GPU graphics for drawing dynamic elements like display clearances and interactive routines. These enhancements significantly improve display performance, resulting in an efficient design experience. Pulsonix Version 12.5 enhances technology rules and imports, empowering users with heightened precision and design control. The press release highlights that the software introduces the capability to generate QR codes as a font style and CSV file support.
