Fast, Durable, And Customizable Thermistor 

Vishay has unveiled its latest AEC-Q200 qualified NTC immersion thermistor—NTCAIMM66H—designed specifically for modern liquid-cooled systems in electric and hybrid vehicles. Engineered with a slim sensor tip, miniature design, and thin insulated wires, the device boasts a 1.5-second response time, ensuring rapid and accurate temperature detection even in tight installation spaces.

This thermistor comes embedded in a stainless steel 316L housing, ensuring long-term resistance to corrosion and permanent immersion in various liquids like coolant and water. The attached 0.35 mm² FLR2X automotive-grade wires not only withstand traction forces above 30 N but also support direct crimping to standard automotive connectors—eliminating the need for expensive and bulky wire-to-wire connectors. This translates into a simpler assembly, lower costs, and increased design flexibility. It  is engineered for fast response to temperature changes, making it ideal for fluid immersion applications in automotive systems. Its compact sensor tip and thin insulated wire significantly reduce thermal gradients, enabling more accurate and responsive temperature readings.

Designed for permanent contact with water or other liquids, the sensor ensures reliable, long-term operation in demanding environments such as cooling systems and liquid-based thermal management setups. The key features are:

  • Wide operating temperature range: -40 °C to +125 °C
  • Stable performance in harsh automotive environments
  • 10 kΩ resistance at 25 °C with ±2% tolerance
  • Beta value: 3984 K with ±0.5% tolerance
  • High accuracy for precision control applications

Suited for thermal monitoring in EV/HEV on-board chargers (OBCs), charging plugs and sockets, and other compact electronic cooling systems, it also supports renewable energy systems, industrial drives, and server thermal management. Ideally suited for a range of automotive and industrial applications where precise thermal monitoring is critical. It is particularly effective in inverters, where it helps maintain optimal operating temperatures for enhanced energy conversion efficiency. In on-board chargers (OBC) for electric and hybrid vehicles, the thermistor ensures accurate temperature sensing to support safe and efficient charging. Additionally, it plays a vital role in battery management systems (BMS) by enabling real-time thermal regulation, helping to protect battery health, extend lifespan, and prevent overheating.
