Achieves the same rated power in a more compact size while ensuring a stable and reliable long-term supply.

General-Purpose Chip Resistors

ROHM has introduced the MCRx series, an advanced lineup of general-purpose chip resistors designed to deliver enhanced performance and miniaturization. This new range includes the MCRS high-power series and the MCRL low-resistance, high-power series, catering to the growing demands of automotive, industrial, and communication applications.

As the push for electrification and functionality increases, the need for compact, high-performance components becomes more critical—especially in sectors like electric vehicles (xEVs) and industrial automation. ROHM’s MCRx family addresses these demands by offering improved power ratings, optimized temperature characteristics, and superior reliability in smaller package sizes.

The key features include:

  • Resistors available in sizes:0402 (1.0mm × 0.5mm) and 2512 (6.4mm × 3.2mm)
  • Greater design flexibility for circuit layouts
  • 0201-size MCRS variant, withstands temperatures up to +155°C
  • Lead-free 01005-size MCRE series, addressing environmental regulations and miniaturization trends

MCRS & MCRL Series: Compact, High-Power Solutions

The series leverages an optimized internal structure and new materials to enhance rated power and temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR), allowing it to deliver higher performance in a smaller footprint. The MCRL series, a low-resistance variant of MCRS, is tailored for current detection applications and is offered in sizes from 0805 (2.0mm × 1.2mm) to 2512 (6.4mm × 3.2mm). This series supports high-precision power management, making it ideal for battery management systems (BMS), inverters, and factory automation.

The company’s redesigned internal structure ensures higher production efficiency, enhanced reliability, and compliance with AEC-Q200 automotive standards. The series supports long-term stable supply, making it suitable for mission-critical industrial applications and communications infrastructure, such as base stations and data centers.
