Littelfuse, Inc. has introduced the SZSMF6L Series of TVS diodes to protect automotive and EV electronics from high-energy voltage spikes. These diodes help prevent damage from switching events, load dumps, or electrostatic discharge, ensuring critical systems continue to work reliably.

The series is suitable for a range of automotive systems, including EV powertrains and inverters, battery management systems, on-board chargers, power distribution units, body control modules, domain and zone controllers, and automotive lighting systems.

These diodes make it easier to design compact, reliable electronics that can handle high-energy transients, and they allow engineers to upgrade from the SZSMF4L Series when higher power handling is required.

The company claims that the series can handle 600 W peak pulse power in a small SOD-123FL surface-mount package, making it suitable for designs with limited space. Compared with the previous 400 W SZSMF4L Series, it offers 50% higher peak power handling while keeping the same footprint. This allows electronics to survive strong voltage spikes without increasing component size.
