Discover their features, including high insulation voltage, ESD protection, and common-mode transient immunity, making them ideal for applications ranging from solar inverters to electric vehicles.

NOVOSENSE Microelectronics has broadened its range of digital isolators, introducing quad-channel devices engineered to meet the stringent requirements of modern industrial and automotive applications. These NSI824xWx high-reliability digital isolators offer space-efficient and effective protection, along with seamless level shifting capabilities. They are well-suited for diverse applications, including solar inverters, energy storage systems, industrial automation, and electric vehicles.

Certified to meet UL1577 safety standards, the ultra-wide body isolators designed for industrial and automotive applications offer a blend of robust EMC performance and superior protection against system-level threats like electrostatic discharge (ESD), electrical fast transients (EFTs), and voltage surges. The features include:

  • Insulation voltage of up to 8kVrms
  • Chip-level ESD Human Body Model (HBM) protection up to ±8kV
  • Common-mode transient immunity (CMTI) of up to 200kV/μs
  • Support channel speeds up to 150Mbps
  • Wide input voltage range of 2.5V to 5.5V

These isolators are versatile, with configurations available for four forward channels, three forward and one reverse channel, or two forward and two reverse channels. Additionally, users can set the default output state to either low or high upon power loss. Their wide input voltage simplifies level shifting, ensuring compatibility with various digital interfaces. Furthermore, their low power consumption of just 1.5mA per channel (at 1Mbps speeds) aids designers in achieving their system efficiency objectives. Like their counterparts in the product line, the newest NSI824x devices utilize a customized capacitive isolator technology. In this process, the digital signal undergoes modulation by an RF carrier generated on the transmitter side and is subsequently demodulated on the receiver side. This signal is then transmitted through a capacitive isolator and demodulated once more on the receiver side. The integration of NOVOSENSE’s exclusive Adaptive OOK® modulation technology is pivotal in ensuring robust performance, characterized by exceptional noise resistance and minimal electromagnetic interference (EMI).

Encased within an SOWW16 package, these devices offer a substantial 15mm creepage distance and excel in a broad temperature range, spanning from -55℃ to 125℃. They are in full compliance with essential safety standards, including UL, CQC, CSA, and VDE. In the realm of industrial automation systems, these isolators prove versatile and find applications in industrial control, industrial motor drives, industrial transportation, instrumentation, industrial field instruments, isolated SPI, RS232, and RS485 applications, universal multi-channel isolators, as well as motor control. For automotive purposes, these isolators are well-suited for use in automobile sensors, electric drives, power supplies, and battery management systems.
