New Endpoint AI Platform For Microcontroller AI Products

Nuvoton has introduced its latest Endpoint AI Platform, designed to expedite the creation of comprehensive microcontroller (MCU) AI products. The platform harnesses the capabilities of the company’s new MCU and MPU silicon, including the NuMicro M55M1 featuring Ethos U55 NPU, NuMicro MA35D1, and NuMicro M467 series. These MCUs contribute to the contemporary AI-centric computing landscape, showcasing it’s ongoing collaboration with Arm and other industry partners to cultivate a user-friendly Endpoint AI Ecosystem.

Facilitating development on these platforms is the company’s NuEdgeWise, a versatile tool for machine learning (ML) development, suitable for diverse tasks while remaining user-friendly. Coupled with robust development tools, these platforms reinforce the company’s position as a leading microcontroller platform provider. The new single-chip-based platforms cater to various applications, including smart home appliances, security, smart city services, industry, agriculture, entertainment, environmental protection, education, highly accurate voice-control tasks, and sports, health, and fitness.

Power-Efficient Machine Learning 

The NuMicro M55M1 series targets machine learning applications, incorporating the Ethos-U55 NPU and on-device AI features. This MCU facilitates event monitoring in low-power mode without waking up the central processor, supported by an ML model protection mechanism to enhance security.  The series is a heterogeneous multi-core microprocessor designed for high-end Edge IIoT Gateway applications, featuring dual-core 64-bit Arm Cortex-A35 core at 800 MHz and a 180 MHz Arm Cortex-M4.

Microcontroller Solution for Diverse Applications 

The M467 series is a 32-bit microcontroller ideal for various applications, including smart home appliances, IoT gateways, industrial control, telecommunications, and data centers. It boasts extensive connectivity, I/O, and security peripherals, supporting HyperRAM for AI/ML applications. Fully-featured development boards are available for all hardware applications, backed by Nuvoton’s comprehensive development tools and support. For instance, the NuMaker MA35D1 facilitates efficient machine learning projects, while the NuMaker-IoT-M467 development board is tailored for IoT applications of the M467 MCU. The company’s NuEdgeWise IDE is a machine-learning tool designed for TinyML development, supporting key stages of ML application development. Leveraging the Jupyter Notebook platform, developers can train and deploy models on the company chips using TensorFlow Lite, making TinyML applications more accessible and easier to implement.
