With its unique combination of high accuracy, durability, and real-time feedback, it represents a leap forward in sensor technology—offering industries a smarter, more efficient way to monitor torque and rotation.

Next-Gen Torque And Angle Sensor

Sensor Technology Ltd has announced the release of its latest innovation, the SGR523, a digital rotary torque sensor that integrates high-resolution angular measurement. This addition to the TorqSense SGR series redefines performance standards for torque and angle monitoring in precision-driven industries.

It utilizes non-contact strain gauge technology, eliminating slip rings to enhance reliability and reduce maintenance. At the heart of the sensor is a highly accurate incremental encoder capable of delivering up to 10,000 pulses per revolution with an angular resolution of just 0.009°, making it ideal for critical tasks such as mechanical testing, automated assembly, and process control.

Key Specifications Include:

  • Torque range: 175 mNm to 20 Nm
  • Accuracy: ±0.1%
  • Overload capacity: 400%, with overrange readings up to 250%
  • Sample rate: 4000 samples/second
  • Output interfaces: RS232, USB (standard); CANbus, Ethernet (optional)
  • Supports bi-directional angle and rotation count
  • Speed measurement up to 9000 RPM
  • Compatible with TorqView advanced monitoring software
  • Backed by a lifetime warranty

It offers dual-parameter monitoring—torque and angle—which allows engineers to spot mechanical issues like stiction or thread damage through torque-angle plots. This is especially beneficial in manufacturing scenarios such as bolt fastening and bottle cap tightening, where consistency is critical.

Its precision angle tracking supports advanced motion control, enabling smoother operation in systems requiring tight management of inertia, such as robotic platforms and automated machinery. The integrated design reduces the number of components, simplifying setup and improving overall system reliability.

Built for tough environments, the SGR523 includes Built-In Test (BIT) diagnostics and shaft temperature monitoring, ensuring dependable performance over time.
