As AI workloads and advanced computing continue to push laptop and edge system capabilities, device makers face mounting pressure to deliver high performance, long battery life and efficient graphics in a single platform. Conventional processors often force trade-offs between compute power, AI acceleration and energy efficiency, limiting adoption in both consumer and industrial applications.

To meet this demand, Intel has launched its Core Ultra Series 3 processors, the first platform built on Intel 18A, the company’s most advanced semiconductor process. The series powers over 200 PC designs and for the first time, certified edge and embedded systems in robotics, smart cities, automation and healthcare.

The Series 3 family includes a new class of Intel Core Ultra X9 and X7 mobile processors, integrating high-performance CPU cores, Intel Arc graphics and AI acceleration with up to 50 NPU TOPS. Top-end SKUs deliver up to 16 CPU cores, 12 Xe cores, up to 60% better multithread performance, 77% faster gaming and battery life of up to 27 hours. Mainstream Core Ultra models offer similar architectural benefits for more affordable laptop designs.

Designed to accelerate AI adoption at the edge, Series 3 processors deliver up to 1.9x higher large language model performance, 2.3x better efficiency on video analytics, and 4.5x higher throughput on vision-language-action tasks compared with previous architectures, while reducing total cost of ownership through a single-chip solution.

Key features of the processor include:

  • Intel 18A-based platform for AI PCs and edge devices
  • Up to 16 CPU cores, 12 Xe cores, 50 NPU TOPS for AI acceleration
  • Exceptional multithread and gaming performance with extended battery life
  • Certified for embedded and industrial workloads with extended reliability
  • Optimized AI throughput for LLM, VLA, and video analytics workloads

Jim Johnson, Intel senior VP, says, “With Series 3, we are laser-focused on improving power efficiency, adding more CPU performance, a bigger GPU in a class of its own, more AI compute and app compatibility you can count on with x86.”
