Remote Controller Transforms Production

Built to manage up to 200 PTZ cameras, it allows operators to automate complex sequences, streamline setup through a web-based interface, and monitor feeds directly on a built-in touchscreen.

Panasonic has introduced its most advanced remote camera controller, the AW-RP200GJ, designed to elevate multi-camera broadcast and live event productions with new levels of efficiency and precision. Scheduled for release in early 2026, the controller debuts Panasonic’s first-ever macro functionality, dual-joystick operation, and expanded connectivity options to support increasingly complex shooting environments.

The key features are:

  • First-ever macro system for remote controllers
  • Operators can pre-register action sequences
  • Single-button press triggers complex workflows
  • Supports multi-camera control and preset recall

Even while a macro is running, other cameras can still be controlled, enabling smoother workflows in situations where limited crew must deliver high production value. This innovation directly addresses the growing need for efficient, automated camera operations in large-scale productions.

Building on the user-friendliness of its predecessor, the AW-RP150GJ, the new controller adds a second joystick to enhance operability. The right joystick continues to manage pan, tilt, zoom, and focus, while the newly added left joystick can be customized for functions like menu navigation and cropping. This dual-joystick system allows simultaneous operations and enables a single operator to manage multiple PTZ cameras with greater ease and accuracy, making it ideal for demanding live environments.

In addition to hardware enhancements, the controller features 20 assignable switches, each with a dedicated LCD display to clearly show assigned functions such as camera selection, presets, or macros. A web-based interface further simplifies setup by enabling batch IP assignment, menu operations, and macro creation across multiple cameras, significantly cutting preparation time in large systems.

Connectivity is also a key advantage. Alongside 3G-SDI input, the controller supports IP video input via NDI High Bandwidth and SRT, with live monitoring available on its built-in 7-inch touchscreen LCD or via SDI OUT. Additional features include support for up to 200 PTZ cameras, selectable operation modes, waveform and vectorscope displays, touch-focus capability, and compatibility with the company’s flagship PTZ camera lineup.

By combining automation, intuitive control, and IP-ready integration, the controller sets a new benchmark for professional video production, offering operators more freedom, speed, and flexibility in multi-camera workflows.
