Revolutionizing Electronic Transformation With Smart Connectors

Smart connectors transform electronics with easy installation and advanced functions, providing industries like healthcare with limitless application possibilities.

Smart connectors

SCHURTER has launched the smart connector DS11, which the company claims to be a global first in its category and the external smart connector DT31. The connectors allow the simple transformation of traditional electronic equipment into smart devices. The new Smart Connectors stand out not just for their straightforward installation but also for their multifaceted capabilities. These Smart Products can monitor energy usage in electronic devices and machinery. They also simplify and enhance the scheduling of preventive maintenance and the fleet management of electronic devices. Both connectors can oversee and display processes, offering many potential applications.

Smart Connector DS11 is designed to be integrated as a power entry module in electronic devices and systems. This allows equipment and device makers to swiftly provide their customers with enhanced features, eliminating the need for expensive development and engineering efforts. The DT31 is an external smart connector that offers plug-and-play and retrofit capabilities. This connector’s strength lies in its ability to connect to devices quickly without needing installation. Because the external smart connector allows for fast and cost-effective integration with existing devices, it’s perfect for tracking usage and consumption. In settings like hospitals, technical personnel can leverage the Smart Connector to accurately track existing medical equipment’s operational hours, gauging their use frequency.

Some of the technical specifications of the smart connectors include:

  • Ratings IEC: 10 A / 250 VAC; 50 Hz
  • Energy Consumption (Standby): < 0.5 W
  • IP-Protection: IP40
  • Minimum measurable Current: < 20 mA
  • Wireless LAN: WiFi 802.11b/g/n
  • Bluetooth: Bluetooth 4.2 BLE

The internal DS11 has a serial interface for direct linkage to the primary device. Smart Connectors are compatible with International Electrotechnical Commission 60320 (IEC-60320) standards. The connectors come with cloud services at no additional cost as part of their package.
