Simple Slide Controls For Easy Designs

Slide controls help save space, cut cost, and improve reliability in electronic and audio products, making design, assembly, and daily use easier.

Designers working on electronic control panels and audio systems often struggle to balance size, cost, durability, and ease of integration. Many projects need compact slide controls that fit tight layouts, offer smooth movement, and remain reliable over repeated use. Same Sky addresses these needs with its PTNS family of slide potentiometers, built for control inputs and audio interfaces.

The PTNS range supports resistance values from 1 to 500 kΩ, with both linear and logarithmic tapers. This allows engineers to use the same series for voltage control, signal tuning, and audio level adjustment. Stroke lengths from 15 to 60 mm give flexibility in choosing short travel for compact products or longer travel for better user control. Vertical orientation, through-hole mounting, and down-facing PCB pins simplify PCB layout and assembly, especially in dense designs.

To match different mechanical layouts, the devices are offered with metal or plastic levers and shaft lengths from 2.7 to 20 mm. This helps designers adapt the same part family to thin panels, deeper enclosures, and varied front-panel designs. Options with and without detents allow control over tactile feedback, depending on whether smooth motion or fixed steps are needed.

Durability is addressed through a rated sliding life of 10,000 cycles, supporting frequent daily operation. The operating temperature range of −10 to 75°C covers most indoor and light industrial environments. With a 0.25 W power rating, the parts fit common low-power signal paths in consumer electronics, industrial controls, and audio equipment.

Cost and supply stability are also key concerns for production teams. Pricing starts at $1.10 per unit at 100-piece quantities through distribution, with availability ranging from stock to a 14-week lead time, helping teams move from prototypes to volume production without redesign.
