The 1W DC-DC converter provides isolation, efficiency, and durability for use in EVs, energy systems, and medical devices.

Murata Manufacturing has introduced the NXJ1T series, a 1W DC-DC converter designed to deliver reinforced isolation for communication interfaces and analog front-end (AFE) circuits. Offering 4.2kVDC isolation (Hi-Pot tested) and UL62368 compliance, the DC-DC converter provides strong electrical isolation, noise immunity, and thermal reliability for industrial, energy, and medical use.
As systems move to higher voltages—especially in 800V electric vehicles (EVs), battery energy storage (BESS), and renewable energy infrastructure—the demand for robust isolation in sensing and communication systems grows. In medical settings, where safety and low leakage current are critical, solutions must also meet strict standards like ANSI/AAMI ES60601-1.
The DC-DC converter meets these needs in a compact form factor, with an unregulated 5V input to 5V/200mA output design, suitable for embedded systems. It uses Murata’s proprietary molding process to ensure durability against dust, particulates, and temperature extremes. The device has passed 1,000 temperature cycles from -40°C to 125°C, proving its thermal robustness.
Made in the UK, the NXJ1T features Murata’s block-coil transformer technology, offering low leakage current and high isolation performance. Unlike conventional wireless power coil solutions—which typically operate at 10 MHz with 40–60% efficiency—the NXJ1T uses lower switching frequencies (500 kHz–2 MHz) to achieve around 80% efficiency, along with excellent common mode transient immunity (CMTI) and reduced isolation capacitance.
The series is UL62368-recognized, providing reinforced insulation up to 200Vrms and basic insulation to 250Vrms. It also includes under-voltage lockout (UVLO) for added stability under fluctuating power conditions. For medical applications, its ultra-low isolation capacitance minimizes leakage current, supporting IEC 60601-1 compliance when used in certified systems.
With an industry-standard pinout and compact SMD packaging, the NXJ1T easily integrates into applications such as CAN Bus systems in EV chargers, industrial automation, and medical instruments including X-ray, laser, ultrasound, and surgical equipment—ensuring long-term safety and performance in high-voltage environments.
