Renesas Electronics Corporation has announced the general availability of Renesas 365, a cloud based development platform designed to unify device exploration, system design, and early concept validation in a single environment. The platform aims to simplify embedded development workflows by connecting tools and resources that are often used separately, enabling engineering teams to evaluate devices and system architectures within a shared design context.
The platform introduces a model based evaluation and optimization approach that recommends suitable microcontrollers based on system requirements rather than individual device specifications alone. Engineers can analyze factors such as pin usage, peripherals, timing constraints and power requirements within the system design. This approach is intended to reduce the time spent reviewing datasheets and evaluating device options, while helping teams converge on design decisions earlier in the development process.
The platform integrates more than 550 variants of the Renesas RA microcontroller family along with the company’s development tools. These include the e² studio IDE, the Flexible Software Package software framework, SDKs and the Renesas toolchain. The platform allows engineers to explore hardware and software architectures collaboratively while tracking design iterations across projects.
Key features include model based component discovery, system level hardware and software workflow integration, AI assisted guidance for design constraints and resource management, and over the air device management for RA based microcontrollers. The system also records configuration changes automatically so teams can revisit previous hardware and software setups when evaluating design alternatives.
The platform is designed as an open environment where developers can incorporate third party components, sensors and partner tools alongside Renesas devices when building system architectures. According to the company, this allows teams to evaluate mixed vendor designs while maintaining visibility into system level dependencies.
