A new ultra-slim DIN-rail AC/DC unit brings 90W, surge-handling muscle, and quiet operation to space-constrained industrial and building-automation systems.

A compact 90W DIN-rail power supply by RECOM power has entered the industrial market with a focus on high power density, surge-ready performance, and streamlined installation. Designed in a slim 36mm “step-shape” profile, the unit targets automation panels, office infrastructure, and residential control cabinets where every millimetre counts and acoustic noise must be kept to a minimum.
At the top of its feature stack is a 150% boost mode that delivers up to 135W for 4.5 seconds—an increasingly critical capability for systems that face motor-start spikes, relay inrush currents, or transient mechanical loads. The device operates from a wide 85–276VAC input range and maintains Overvoltage Category II compliance up to 5000m altitude, supporting deployment in both standard industrial sites and high-altitude installations.
The key features are:
- 150% boost capability for 4.5 seconds
- Wide 85–276VAC input with OVC II compliance up to 5000m,
- Adjustable 24VDC output up to 29V
On the output side, the supply delivers a nominal 24VDC that can be adjusted up to 29VDC for systems needing fine voltage tuning. Its constant-current overload behaviour and UL1310-aligned LPS/NEC Class 2 classification make it suitable for safety-critical or low-power-limited applications. Efficiency reaches 93.6%, contributing to cooler operation across its full -40°C to +70°C ambient range and supporting long lifetime metrics—an essential requirement for cabinets with limited airflow.
The mechanical design focuses equally on usability and noise reduction. At just 151g, the unit snaps directly onto DIN rails, while push-in terminals enable tool-less wiring during assembly or maintenance. Extended mounting flanges provide flexibility for panel-mount variants. Special attention to acoustical performance aims to eliminate coil whine or mechanical hum, a growing concern in smart homes, commercial buildings, and open-office automation.
Compliance with IEC/EN EMC standards, low no-load power draw, and global safety certifications round out the feature list. The device sits at the top end of a broader family that includes 18W, 30W, and 60W variants, offering a scalable platform for OEMs standardising across multiple power classes. The supply ships with a three-year warranty, and samples or volume options are available through authorised distribution channels.
