Amplifying computing capabilities, a processor family with 192 cores sets industry performance and scalability standards, aligning with Cloud Native principles for versatile computing and efficient power management.

AmpereOne

Ampere Computing has launched its new AmpereOne Processor Family, boasting an industry-leading 192 single-threaded Ampere cores. These processors set new standards for performance and virtual machine density in scalable computing solutions. AmpereOne complements Ampere Altra products, aligning with the same Cloud Native principles of high performance, predictability, elasticity, scalability, and power efficiency. AmpereOne goes beyond by offering more cores, enhanced memory bandwidth and capacity, increased I/O bandwidth, and additional Cloud Native features, delivering comprehensive solutions for modern computing needs.

The AmpereOne Family introduced products ranging from 136 cores to 192 cores, all operating at consistent and predictable frequencies of up to 3.0 GHz. Each core is intentionally single-threaded, equipped with 16 KB L1 instruction cache and 64 KB L1 Data-cache, doubling the L2 private cache to 2 MB. This design, combined with ample private caching, uniform operating frequencies, and new memory management features, ensures predictable performance by addressing challenges like noisy neighbour issues in multi-core processing setups. Additionally, it provides a secure microarchitecture suitable for multi-tenant cloud environments.

The dense Cloud Native Processors maximise cores, server density, and performance per rack, making them suitable for sustainable and energy-efficient computing installations. They provide consistent per-core performance, enabling linear scaling as workloads grow, particularly in dense virtual machine deployments where they outshine competitors. With up to 128 PCIe Gen5 lanes per socket, AmpereOne supports up to 32 off-chip devices, making it versatile for various system configurations, excelling in large-capacity storage, networking, AI inference, and advanced AI applications. AmpereOne’s industry-leading performance per rack reduces space and power requirements, lowers costs, and supports environmental goals, while advanced power management features enhance efficiency and adaptability.

AmpereOne is about more. More cores, more IO, more memory, more performance, more cloud features,” said Jeff Wittich, Chief Product Officer at Ampere. “With our Ampere Custom Cloud Native Cores, this is the next step in the break from the constraints of legacy computing. No other CPU comes close. It is about cloud scale with the maximum performance per rack.”
