Automotive Window Voltage Detectors With Rapid Response

Window voltage detectors provide Undervoltage and overvoltage aiding IC fault diagnosis through a manual reset function for improved functionality and safety.

ABLIC has launched the S-191A Series of automotive window voltage detectors, designed to monitor both undervoltage and overvoltage. It boasts the industry’s highest class response time of 10μs typ. from detecting a voltage anomaly to output. The series features a manual reset function that facilitates the diagnosis of non-safe Integrated Circuit (IC) faults, contributing to higher functional safety and enhancing automotive safety.

The S-191A Series is not only a Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) but is also planned for compliance with Grade 1 of the AEC (*Automotive Electronics Council)-Q100 quality standard for automotive ICs.

Functioning as a window voltage detector, the series allows the independent setting of detection voltage for undervoltage and overvoltage, accommodating customer requirements more effectively than systems with aligned detection voltage and vertically equalized window width.

With a rapid response time of 10μs typ. from Undervoltage or overvoltage detection to output, the series achieves the industry’s highest class in fast detection, enhancing overall system safety by swiftly identifying voltage anomalies.

Featuring a manual reset function, the series enables the diagnosis of non-safe IC faults, addressing situations where a voltage fault is misinterpreted as normal voltage, leading to incorrect release. This functionality identifies potential failures when the output does not switch to “detected” and remains “released” with manual reset enabled.

Some of the major specifications include:

  • Operating voltage range: 2.5 to 6.0V
  • Undervoltage detection voltage 0.6 to 4.9V
  • Overvoltage detection voltage 0.7 to 5.5V
  • Undervoltage detection voltage: ±1.5%
  • Overvoltage detection voltage: ±1.5%
  • Detection response time: 10.0µs Typ.
  • Release delay time accuracy: ±15% (CD = 3.3 nF)
  • Operation temperature range: -40°C to +125°C
  • Current consumption: 1.5μA Typ.
  • Output format: Nch open drain output

Housed in an ultra-compact automotive HSNT-8(1616)B package measuring 1.6㎜ x 1.6㎜ x t0.41㎜, the S-191A Series is 70% smaller than ABLIC’s conventional products. This compact design contributes to a reduced footprint, effectively addressing space constraints in automotive applications.
