Responsibilities
- The Site Installation Engineer will be responsible for supervision and execution support of railway signaling installation activities across project sites. The role involves site installation planning, coordination with design and project teams, monitoring of field activities, quality checks, safety compliance, and technical support for MSDAC and associated signaling systems. The position will support SMO projects by ensuring that installation works are completed safely, as per approved drawings, Siemens guidelines, project schedule, and customer requirements.
- Supervise installation, testing, and commissioning support activities for trenching, cable laying, signal foundations, location boxes, point machines, level crossing gate equipment, and related S&T site works.
- Supervise installation of MSDAC equipment including indoor/outdoor equipment, axle counter sensors/detection points, trackside units, cables, termination, and associated site wiring as per approved drawings and Siemens guidelines.
- Support installation and readiness activities for Electronic Interlocking indoor S&T equipment and associated interfaces at project sites.
- Coordinate with design teams for plan preparation, drawing review, submission, clarification, and approval related to railway signaling and MSDAC installation scope.
- Validate site execution against approved SIP, cable route plans, location plans, cable schedules, installation manuals, and customer/site requirements.
- Lead and guide field installation supervisors and contractors to ensure quality execution, safe working, and timely completion of assigned tasks.
- Carry out site checks and super checks on live project sites to verify installation quality, workmanship, material usage, and compliance with product installation guidelines.
- Monitor assigned site activities on a regular basis and ensure progress is aligned with project schedule, quality expectations, and cost targets.
- Coordinate with customers, railway authorities, project teams, contractors, and internal stakeholders to resolve site issues in a timely manner.
- Prepare and maintain site documentation including installation checklists, inspection records, progress reports, issue logs, technical audit reports, and handover records.
- Support troubleshooting and technical issue analysis during installation, testing, and pre-commissioning phases of MSDAC and associated signaling equipment.
- Provide site inputs for MSDAC performance tracking, installation quality monitoring, and management reporting as required.
- Ensure implementation of latest product installation guidelines, process documents, and quality instructions at project sites.
- Identify site risks, delays, access constraints, material gaps, and quality concerns, and escalate with proposed mitigation actions.
- Ensure all work is executed in compliance with EHS requirements, local rules, railway safety standards, and Siemens safety procedures.
- Support process improvements, lessons learned, and best-practice sharing for site installation and MSDAC execution activities.
- Provide technical support to bid/project teams when required, including site feasibility inputs, schedule inputs, and technical compliance inputs.
- Be willing to relocate or travel across India based on project deployment and site execution requirements.
Requirements
- University degree / Diploma in Electronics, Electrical, Telecommunications engineering discipline.
- 4–6 years of experience in Indian Railway signaling business, preferably in site installation, testing, commissioning, or product/site support roles.
- Good knowledge of MSDAC / axle counter systems, installation practices, site wiring, sensors/detection points, indoor and outdoor signaling equipment.
- Working knowledge of Electronic Interlocking, S&T site execution, cable laying, termination, testing support, and railway signaling installation processes.
- Working skills in MS Office; AutoCAD knowledge will be an added advantage for drawing reviews, mark-up, and basic site documentation.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams, contractors, railway authorities, and customers in a site environment.
- Good communication and customer service skills with open-mindedness and constructive approach to assigned tasks.
- Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, or project-specific schedules when required during critical site execution or commissioning phases.
- Railway signaling site installation and execution knowledge.
- MSDAC / axle counter installation, wiring, sensor installation, and site readiness knowledge.
- Electronic Interlocking indoor/outdoor equipment installation awareness.
- Drawing interpretation: SIP, cable route plan, cable schedule, location plan, and installation checklist.
