With versatile options, these units provide reliable, efficient, and cost-effective solutions for medical professionals.

COSEL Co, Ltd has made an announcement regarding the introduction of a new range of low-profile power supplies tailored for medical applications. This product line, known as the WMA series, encompasses two distinct families: the WMA-F and the WMA-H. In the WMA-F family, users will find power supplies equipped with a versatile universal input range spanning from 85 to 264VAC. These units come in three different power levels: 35W, 75W, and 100W. They have been thoughtfully engineered to seamlessly integrate into medical systems, making them an ideal choice for medical professionals. On the other hand, the WMA-H family caters to diverse power requirements with options available at 150W and 350W, offering the added convenience of switch-selectable input voltage ranges. This flexibility enhances their suitability for various medical applications.

The series adheres to international safety standards, ensuring reliability for demanding medical scenarios. These power supplies have an isolation grade of 2MOPP (IN/OUT) and 1MOPP (IN/FG). Their robust platform incorporates enhanced power-switching technologies, making them a good choice for high-quality power solutions in the medical field while maintaining an attractive price-to-performance ratio. They prove their versatility by also catering to demanding industrial fixture applications that require high isolation, as specified in Over Voltage Category III. Models have been optimised explicitly for convection cooling, and other variant goes a step further by incorporating a fan for additional cooling, ensuring performance even in the most challenging applications. The voltage specifications include:

  • Rated Input: AC85 – 264 1Φ
  • Rated Output Wattage: 35 – 100W
  • Rated Input: AC85 – 132 1Φ/AC170 – 264 1Φ(Selectable by switch)
  • Rated Output Wattage: 150 – 350W
  • WMA-F series: Operates universally from 85 to 264VAC
  • WMA-H series: Works in two selectable ranges – 85 to 132VAC or 170 to 264VAC
  • Both have inrush current limiting, overcurrent, and overvoltage protection
  • Reliable performance in an environmental range of -20 to +70 degrees Celsius
  • Possible derating based on equipment assembly and cooling conditions

In response to the demanding needs of medical applications, the series offers a compact 30mm height, meeting industry standards for slim profiles. The company’s power designers have created an optimized platform for price-to-performance, reliability, and global compliance. With a streamlined design and efficient thermal management, the series achieves up to 91% efficiency, enhancing reliability while reducing costs. It’s also suitable for industrial use, meeting SEMI F47 voltage sag immunity for semiconductor manufacturing and overvoltage Category III requirements for fixed applications.

The series doesn’t have built-in active PFC but is IEC61000-3-2 (Class A) compliant. It’s suited for systems with integrated frontend PFC, while the other variant may require external power factor correction depending on the application. Built on an aluminum chassis and enclosed in a hot-dip galvanised steel board (SGCC) case, the WMA series prioritizes durability. The series, with its compact size, cost-efficiency, and high quality, suits demanding applications in the medical, test and measurement, and industrial sectors, including household appliances. It includes a five-year warranty and conforms to European RoHS and Low Voltage Directives.
