High-Speed Waveform Generator Card With 2.5GHz Bandwidth

Spectrum Instrumentation has developed new Arbitrary Waveform Generator (AWG) cards in PCIe format offering scientists and engineers continuous streaming of data.

The four new AWG flagships in PCIe format combine up to 10 GS/s speed, up to 2.5 GHz bandwidth, and 16-bit resolution. In the diagram, a two-channel M5i.6357 generates the two signals (I and Q component) for a Quadrature-Modulation

The AWG cards enable high-frequency waveform production with minimal distortion, featuring a 16-bit vertical resolution for clear signal generation. With onboard memory options of up to 8 GigaSamples, these cards allow for high-speed data transfer rates reaching 10 GB/s. This makes them ideal for demanding applications, where continuous streaming of data to the card can enable nearly limitless waveform creation such as for professionals including researchers in telecommunications, electronics testing, and signal processing, as well as developers of communication systems and educational institutions focused on advanced engineering programs.

Each AWG card offers flexibility, supporting single-shot, repeated, and multiple replay modes. The cards also come with two external trigger lines, which allow for precise waveform replay controlled either by software commands or trigger events.

For more complex systems, company’s proprietary Star-Hub clock and trigger synchronization module allows up to eight cards to be linked, offering fully synchronous outputs across multiple channels. In multi-channel setups, users can achieve synchronized waveform generation at up to 5 GS/s on 16 channels or 10 GS/s on eight channels.

The new AWG cards can also work alongside company’s M5i.33xx digitizer series, creating robust systems for applications such as stimulus-response or closed-loop testing. This combination allows for mixed AWG and digitizer systems with up to 16 transmission and 16 receiver channels operating at high speeds.

The cards support both Windows and Linux operating systems and are fully programmable using a variety of popular programming languages, including C++, Python, and Java. The company’s AWG series comes with a five-year warranty, ensuring reliable operation for years to come
