Looking Glass, a Brooklyn based company introduces their second-generation 3D holographic displays.

3D holographic displays are fascinating as they elevate the image in such a completely unique way with seemingly “free-floating” 3D holograms. Looking Glass announced its second generation holographic displays. The two new products by the company, Gen2 and the 8K Gen2, are powered by the company’s so-called advanced light-field technology.

The new products come as updates to the company’s first-generation holographic display. The latest models are not a technology upgrade; they are a size and quality upgrade. The Portrait version has a 7.9-inch display, the 4K version is 15.6 inches and the 8K version is 32 inches. The newer versions are lighter and thinner and incorporate methods to reduce ambient reflections. These devices can be used to convert and display photographs taken with a smartphone (using a Looking Glass app) into 3D pictures or videos that show the picture as if from a moving camera. Moreover, they can display 3D objects, 3D animations, all through Looking Glass software called HoloPlay Studio.
