ROHM Launches AG16xFNxx Series MOSFETs for Automotive 48V Power Supply Systems

ROHM has developed the AG16xFNxx Series, a lineup of 80V power MOSFETs designed for 48V power supply systems, which are becoming increasingly common in automotive applications. The new devices are intended for automotive 48V systems, including main inverter control circuits, electric motors, electric water pumps, and similar applications.

The launch comes as power demand continues to increase in the automotive sector, particularly in high-end vehicle models. As a result, 48V power supply systems are gaining attention as a highly efficient alternative to conventional 12V systems. With widespread adoption expected around 2030, there is a growing need for 80V power MOSFETs that can achieve lower power losses than standard 100V devices.

To address this requirement, ROHM’s new products adopt the HPLF5060 (4.9 × 6.0mm) and DFN3333 (3.3 × 3.3mm) packages, enabling downsizing compared to standard automotive MOSFET packages such as TO-252 (6.6 × 10.0mm).

The HPLF5060 package features Gull-Wing Leads, while the DFN3333 package incorporates Wettable Flank Technology, both of which contribute to improved reliability on printed circuit boards (PCBs). In addition, the devices use Copper Clip Junction Technology to improve heat dissipation, allowing them to handle high currents. All models in the series comply with the AEC-Q101 automotive reliability standard.

Mass production of the first products in the series began in April 2026. These include the AG160FNS4FRA in the HPLF5060 package and the AG166FNH7FRA in the DFN3333 package. The devices have a sample price of US$3.5 per unit, excluding tax.

Online sales have also started, and the products are available through distributors including DigiKey and Farnell.

ROHM plans to further expand the product lineup for both package types in the near future. The company has also started development of products in the TOLG (TO-Leaded with Gullwing, 9.9 × 11.7mm) package as part of its continued expansion of high-power, high-reliability 80V MOSFETs for automotive applications.
