Silvus Technologies has launched the FASST 6000 Spectrum Sensor, a handheld RF detection and direction-finding system designed for tactical operations, unmanned systems and distributed sensing networks. The company says the platform delivers spectrum monitoring and geolocation capabilities typically associated with much larger systems, while operating in a compact, low size, weight and power (SWaP) form factor.

Powered by Silvus’ proprietary Filtering by Aliasing Spectrum Sensing Technology (FASST), the system can scan frequencies from 1 MHz to 6 GHz at speeds of up to 144.5 terahertz per second. The sensor is designed to detect, record and identify the direction of short-duration, low-power and low-duty-cycle RF transmissions in near real time.

Silvus says the FASST 6000 delivers scanning performance more than 100 times faster than competing systems in the same size category. The platform integrates onboard processing, IP networking and USB connectivity while consuming 17 watts of power, enabling deployment either as a standalone handheld unit or as part of a distributed sensing network.

When connected through a StreamCaster MANET mesh network with three or more sensors, the system supports real-time triangulation and geolocation of RF emitters. The capability is intended to provide operators with improved awareness of friendly and hostile activity across contested environments, supporting missions ranging from localized electronic intelligence gathering to large-scale RF surveillance operations.

“The launch of the FASST 6000 represents a pivotal shift for Silvus as we bring our expertise in tactical communications to the vital field of RF sensing,” said Mansour Rachid, vice president of research and development, Silvus Technologies. “We’re delivering exceptional scanning speed and precision in a compact, rugged form factor to empower our customers to detect and localize threats faster, setting a new pace for EW warfare and helping to ensure they maintain the information advantage on the modern battlefield.”

“At Silvus, we don’t just innovate; we set the pace for the tactical edge by turning theoretical research into battle-hardened solutions,” said Babak Daneshrad, founder and CEO, Silvus Technologies. “The FASST 6000 represents our commitment to always challenging the status quo and helping ensure that the warfighter maintains a decisive information advantage.”
