Primemas Inc. has started shipping customer samples of the industry’s first Compute Express Link (CXL) 3.0 memory controller SoC. The controller is built using the company’s chiplet-based Hublet architecture and targets data center and AI workloads. This milestone is part of a broader collaboration with Micron to accelerate the adoption of CXL memory technologies.

Primemas has already delivered engineering samples and development boards to early partners, who helped validate the Hublet® architecture’s performance. These samples are now being extended to memory vendors, customers, and ecosystem partners for broader evaluation.

The CXL 3.0 controller from Primemas breaks away from traditional fixed-form-factor limitations by using a modular chiplet design. These options allow developers to scale solutions for different environments, from edge systems to hyperscale data centers.

Micron’s CXL ASIC Validation Lab (AVL) program supports such innovations by helping ensure CXL controllers can work reliably with its high-capacity DRAM modules. Developing such controllers involves complex challenges like ensuring memory consistency and managing power and performance.

“We are very encouraged by the excellent feedback from our initial partners, who leveraged Hublet® to address the challenges posed by rapidly growing workloads,” said Jay Kim, EVP and Head of Business Development at Primemas. “We’re excited to take the next major step toward commercialization through our collaboration with Micron and their CXL AVL program.”

“With the rapid adoption of AI, and the corresponding increase in memory-intensive workloads, CXL-based solutions are driving innovations to transform traditional compute platforms,” said Luis Ancajas, director of CXL Business Development at Micron. “As an industry leader in data center memory solutions, we are excited to collaborate with innovators like Primemas to validate and accelerate next-generation solutions like the Hublet® SoC through our AVL program and help bring these transformative solutions to market to unlock new levels of performance, scalability and efficiency for the data center.”
