Lumissil microsystems, California has introduced the ‘IS32LT3365’ LED Matrix Manager, an integrated circuit (IC) designed to revolutionise adaptive driving beam (ADB) headlamp systems. This scalable solution allows precise control of high-brightness LEDs, enabling dynamic beam patterns and intensity adjustments that enhance road illumination and driver safety.

The latest IC features twelve floating N-channel field effect transistor (NFET) switches, which function as bypass shunts, allowing individual or grouped LEDs to be toggled on, off, or dimmed. Its high-speed 30kHz PWM with 10-bit resolution provides 1024 brightness levels for each LED, offering peerless precision in beam pattern customisation. To ensure seamless integration with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), the IC incorporates a fast controller area network (CAN) Lite or universal asynchronous receiver-transmitter (UART) interface with cyclic redundancy check (CRC), enabling coordinated management of complex LED arrays.

Electromagnetic interference (EMI), a common challenge in ADB systems, is effectively mitigated by this IC through its spread spectrum and slew rate control features, reducing EMI generated by high-frequency PWM operations. Additionally, the IC meets ISO 26262 ASIL-B safety standards, ensuring reliable and efficient performance in automotive applications.

Ven Shan, vice president, marketing, Lumissil, emphasised the significance of this innovation, stating, “This IC enables lighting engineers to design headlamps that adapt to real-time road conditions, improving nighttime driving safety.” Shan further highlighted the complementary products available, including the IS32PM3510 voltage converter and IS32LT3961 LED driver, which serve as the power stage for driving matrix LEDs, creating a comprehensive solution for ADAS enabled ADB systems.

Operating within a temperature range of -40°C to +150°C and housed in a compact eLQFP-48 package, this IC is AEC-Q100 qualified, making it ideal for space-constrained automotive designs. With this innovative IC, the company sets the standards for headlamp systems, making way for safer and smarter vehicle lighting technology.
