Automotive electronics are becoming increasingly complex as modern vehicles integrate multiple Electronic Control Units (ECUs) to support Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), electric and hybrid electric vehicle (xEV) platforms, and high-resolution automotive camera modules. This trend drives a critical need for power supply components that can minimize energy loss, handle higher currents, occupy minimal space, and remain reliable under harsh operating conditions, including high temperatures. Efficient, compact, and robust inductors are essential for ensuring stable power delivery and supporting the growing demands of next-generation automotive systems.

TDK’s expanded BCL3520FT series of small power inductors is designed to meet these challenges. The series uses proprietary metallic magnetic materials and optimized structural designs to deliver industry-leading electrical performance. Main applications include power supply circuits for automotive systems such as ADAS, electric and xEV platforms, and automotive camera modules.

Key features of the BCL3520FT series include:

  • Offers 0.47 μH inductance in a compact 3.3 × 3.5 × 2.0 mm package.
  • Typical Direct Current (DC) resistance is 5 mΩ, approximately 15% lower than comparable products, reducing power loss.
  • Flat wire construction limits heat generation.
  • Rated current (Isat) of 10 A, about 28% higher than similar inductors.
  • Maintains stable operation up to +155 °C for reliable performance in harsh automotive environments.
  • Compliant with Automotive Electronics Council standard AEC-Q200.

By offering high-efficiency, low-loss, and space-saving inductors, TDK enables engineers to design more energy-efficient and reliable power circuits for automotive applications, supporting the development of autonomous driving systems and other advanced vehicle technologies.
