Qualifications and Key Skills Required
- PhD with relevant experience OR
- MTech / ME or equivalent degree with relevant experience OR
- BTech / BE or equivalent degree with relevant experience
- Strong knowledge of electromagnetic interference (EMI) sources, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) principles, and mitigation techniques, especially in complex embedded systems.
- Familiarity with aerospace EMI/EMC standards (IEC 61000/IS 14700, applicable MIL standards, CISPR, and FCC regulations)
- Expertise in electromagnetic simulation and modeling tools (CST, HFSS, Ansys)
- Proficiency in using EMI/EMC test equipment like spectrum analysers, EMI receivers, oscilloscopes, near-field probes, and EMI chambers for radiated and conducted emissions and immunity testing.
- Experience in implementing EMI shielding, grounding, filtering, cable shielding, PCB layout optimisation, and enclosure design to reduce EMI in sensitive electronic assemblies.
- Knowledge of drone-specific electronics is desired.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Coordinate EMI/EMC design, modeling, and simulation activities for UAV electronic subsystems to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
- Analyse electromagnetic coupling, emission, and susceptibility mechanisms in complex embedded systems to identify potential vulnerabilities
- Collaborate with hardware teams to provide design recommendations on PCB layout, grounding, shielding, filtering, and enclosure optimisation to minimise EMI impact
- Provide guidance on optimal placement and routing of sensitive electronics like GPS and flight controllers in drone architectures to minimise electromagnetic interference
- Use electromagnetic simulation and analysis software to predict EMI performance early in the design phase and validate mitigation measures
- Prepare comprehensive EMI/EMC documentation including test procedures, compliance reports, and certification submissions to meet regulatory requirements
- Any other work assigned as per requirement
