DEEP Robotics has demonstrated a pulse-operated firefighting robot dog designed to support firefighters in hazardous environments. The quadrupedal robot employs the pulse firefighting mechanism to deliver targeted bursts to extinguish fires while conserving water and minimising collateral damage. The robot also allows for zero-contact firefighting, allowing operators to remain at a safe distance.

The firefighting vehicle is fitted with a sensor fusion technology that integrates LiDAR sensors, depth sensing cameras, infrared imaging sensors, and high resolution vision sensors that offer reliable situational awareness. The technology helps in operating autonomously in complete darkness, harsh sunlight and dynamic lighting conditions for inspections and emergency response operations.

DEEP Robotics has also implemented the robot in an ecosystem for firefighting, which includes water-cannon robots that can shoot water or foam at distances of up to 60 meters. Other features of the ecosystem include wheeled-legged autonomous robots, low-latency communication, drone integration, real-time data transmission, and 3D point cloud mapping.

Pulse and water-cannon robots are based on the X30 quadrupedal robot that is designed for demanding industrial environments. This robot has the capability to ascend industrial and open-riser staircases up to 45 degrees, navigate over rugged terrains, and step over obstacles exceeding 20 centimetres. Its sophisticated traction and adaptive gait algorithms allows it to walk on gravel, sand, wet metal gratings, and cluttered factory floors.

In the case of longer missions, the X30 provides 25 per cent more battery life compared to its previous models. In addition, there is a quick-release, tool-free battery system which does not require any tools to be used, allowing for the batteries to be swapped out in just seconds. The DEEP Robotics suggests that due to enhanced mobility, intelligent perception, and extended endurance, the device is suitable for continuous deployment across factories, power facilities, remote infrastructure and other hazardous environments.
