We are looking for a skilled and hands-on Power Electronics Testing Engineer with experience in high-voltage power converter testing, planar magnetics layout design, and schematic design. The ideal candidate will be responsible for validating power converter hardware in the lab, designing custom magnetic components, and supporting schematic and Layout development for next-generation power systems. This is a multidisciplinary role that combines deep testing expertise with practical design skills.
Key Responsibilities
High-Voltage Power Converter Testing:
- Perform hands-on testing and validation of high-voltage power converters (up to 800V) including AC/DC, DC/DC, and DC/AC topologies.
- Set up and safely operate test benches with high-voltage equipment, ensuring compliance with electrical safety standards.
- Power Converter testing use of lab instrumentation such as: Oscilloscopes, Power analyzers, electronic loads, HV differential probes, Insulation testers (Hipot), LCR meters, Thermal cameras, Data logger, Grid Simulator, Bidirectional DC Power Supply, Electronic load.
- Execute tests for electrical performance, thermal behavior, EMI/EMC pre-compliance, and reliability.
- Troubleshoot power stage failures and work closely with design engineers for root cause analysis.
- Document test results, generate technical reports, and present findings to cross-functional teams.
- High-voltage Multilayer Power Converter Layout design skill
Planar Magnetics PCB coil & Design:
- Design and model planar magnetic components (transformers and inductors) for high-frequency, high-density applications.
- Perform magnetic simulations and loss calculations using tools such as ANSYS Maxwell or PLECS.
- Collaborate with mechanical teams to integrate magnetics into compact form factors.
- Support prototyping, vendor coordination, and qualification of magnetic components.
Schematic and Layout Design Support:
- Develop or modify schematics for power converter circuits using EDA tools.
- Perform component selection, circuit simulation, and design reviews.
- Support PCB layout teams by providing input on creepage/clearance, loop areas, and thermal routing.
Required Qualifications
- B.Tech Electronics/ Electrical Engineering with minimum 4-7 Yrs
- Strong theoretical knowledge of power converter topologies and circuit operation
- Familiarity with WBG devices (GaN, SiC), IGBT, and gate driver design
- Understanding of power magnetics, electromagnetics, and thermal aspects
- Practical knowledge of testing methods and lab instrumentation
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- High level of passion for power electronics, learning attitude, and work ethics
