Faults in electrical systems are a common challenge, and proper earthing is essential for the safe operation of installations across generation, transmission, and distribution. Meco Instruments Pvt Ltd has introduced the MECO Clamp-On Earth/Ground Resistance & Leakage Current Tester (Model: 4680SL / 4680 SLC), which is equipped with an elongated jaw that can handle both flat and round earthing strips. This innovative design removes the need for ground and auxiliary rods, significantly reducing the time required for setup and preventing operational shutdowns.

To ensure accuracy and reliability, the meter’s calibration can be verified using the Resistance Verification Plate that comes with the instrument. This feature is especially useful in environments where conventional earth resistance measurement techniques are difficult or impossible to implement. The practicality, time-saving benefits, and ease of operation of this tool make it an invaluable investment for enhancing the safety and efficiency of electrical systems.

This ground resistance tester is equipped with advanced functionalities that simplify the process of measuring electrical safety and integrity. The instrument enables non-contact ground resistance measurements and does not require auxiliary electrodes, making it more convenient and quicker to use. It includes a robust data storage capability and features such as data hold, noise signal detection, and continuity loop testing, which enhance the utility and accuracy of the tests conducted.

The versatile tester measures ground resistance from 0.01 Ohm to 500 Ohm. It works with earthing strips up to 55mm wide and round conductors up to 20mm in diameter. The 4680SLC model specifically offers leakage current measurement capabilities ranging from 0.5mA to 20.00A. To further streamline operations, the device includes auto-ranging functions and an auto power-off feature to help preserve the battery during inactivity.
