3425L series of PPTCs provide overcurrent protection for HV applications such as data centre, telecom, industrial robotics, and consumer electronics.

Littelfuse introduces 3425L series of resettable PPTCs (polymeric positive temperature coefficient) with overcurrent protection. Also known as resettable fuses or poly fuses, the PPTC exhibits a positive temperature coefficient of resistance, i.e. their resistance increases with an increase in temperature. PPTC’s ability to reset automatically without requiring manual replacement makes them suitable for applications where intermittent faults or temporary overloads may occur. PPTCs also have faster response times compared to traditional fuses, as they can trip within milliseconds. The high voltage over current protection provided by the 3425L series will enhance the safety of devices, thus protecting the device and improving product life, while reducing the repair cost and chances of electrical accidents. The 3425L PPTC are suitable for use in a wide range of applications such as in power tools, data centre equipment, industrial robotics, etc.

PPTCs are commonly used as overcurrent protection devices in electronic circuits. They provide a resettable alternative to traditional fuses, which require replacement once they have blown. When an excessive current flows through a circuit protected by a PPTC, it heats up and its resistance increases, thereby limiting the current to a safe level. Once the fault or overcurrent condition is removed, the PPTC cools down and its resistance decreases, allowing the normal operation of the circuit to resume.

“Adding the 3425L Series to the PolySwitch product line delivers another clear performance advantage for electronics designers and their latest innovations,” said Stephen Li, a Global Product Manager at Littelfuse. “These new surface-mounted PPTC devices offer resettable high-voltage overcurrent protection, thereby reducing product warranty, service, and repair costs.”

According to the company, the 3425L series SMD PPTCs come in compact surface-mounted 8763 mm (3425 mils) size. The protection device is suitable for a wide variety of applications including consumer electronics, such as power tools and televisions, computing equipment and servers, industrial robotics, data centre and telecom equipment, etc

Littelfuse, Inc. is an industrial technology manufacturing company with a presence in over 20 countries. The company manufactures circuit protection products.
