A. MIPI Alliance has served the mobile/smartphone market for nearly 15 years via its MIPI CSI-2 and MIPI DSI and MIPI DSI-2 interface specifications for camera and displays, respectively. In fact, MIPI was initially formed in 2003 to address the very first phones that supported cameras and the first “high resolution” displays (then at only VGA resolution!) The increasingly high-resolution features in both cameras and displays have rapidly grown since then, for example now supporting 4K displays and 20 Mpixel cameras, with strong directions to higher frame rates in both. We expect this support will continue into AR/VR devices, the Internet of Things (IoT), automotive systems and other areas in the near future.
Q. Could you also let me know what the aim of MIPI Alliance to do marketing in India is?
A. India hosts a vibrant technology base and developer community, making relevant participation in MIPI Alliance membership and specification adoption. Developers are invited to learn more about MIPI specifications and network with colleagues at the upcoming MIPI DevCon Bangalore being held on 27 October 2017.
