Next generation modules can support bluetooth LE audio with extended range, improved audio quality, and versatile integration options for multiple uses.
Cloud2GND and Ezurio (formerly Laird Connectivity) have announced the launch of the Aurawave AW100 series. It is a flexible, modular platform designed to simplify and accelerate Auracast and Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) Audio product development. The product is suitable for audio device makers, IoT developers, and industrial integrators, benefiting sectors like consumer electronics, assistive listening, public broadcasting, and automotive infotainment. The key users are expected to get faster product development, reduced engineering complexity, extended wireless range, superior audio quality, and seamless integration for consumer, industrial, and assistive listening applications.
Built on Ezurio’s BL5340PA and BL5340 modules, powered by Nordic Semiconductor’s nRF5340 SoC, and also incorporates the variant nRF21540 RF front-end module to extend range and improve connection reliability. The hardware integrates the AKM AK4558 audio codec chip, which enables production-grade audio with an excellent signal-to-noise ratio and low total harmonic distortion.
Supporting Auracast source functionality, LE Audio roles, and both standalone or host-managed operation, the product, as per company details, comes with firmware that allows quick device configuration and high-quality audio broadcasting via AT commands. Developers can access onboard audio I/O (I2S, USB, codec), a power and data functionality USB-C interface, and a 40-pin expansion header for GPIO and peripheral integration.
As per company’s inputs, the following other features are built into the product.
- Long-Range Capability of up to 250m in free space
- Bluetooth LE 6.0 for broad compatibility with third-party devices
- Custom Firmware Support with preloaded binaries, SWD flashing option
