Ambarella is rethinking how AI and automation reach the edge, making smart cameras, robotics, and industrial systems faster, more efficient, and easier for developers to build right in India.

In an exclusive conversation with Electronics For You, Muneyb Minhazuddin and Jerome Gigot from Ambarella shared insights into how the company is tackling challenges in edge AI, smart perception, and automation, with a focus on the Indian market. Muneyb highlighted that “many current AI and automation solutions, especially imported ones, depend heavily on cloud processing or manual integration between devices, leading to delays, inefficiencies, and higher operational costs”. India, they noted, also faces a gap in access to high-performance AI hardware and a supportive developer ecosystem.
Their approach combines next-generation AI processors with software and developer tools that enable faster, more efficient deployment of intelligent devices. These solutions are designed for applications such as enterprise security cameras, wearable devices, robotics, industrial automation, and automotive safety features, providing real-time intelligence while keeping power consumption low.
A key part of their strategy is making AI accessible to a broader developer base. Their Ambarella Developer Zone (DevZone) offers low-code/no-code tools, pre-built AI models, and ready-to-use application templates. Jerome explained that “Indian developers in particular can leverage the ecosystem to quickly prototype and deploy AI solutions without deep technical expertise, significantly reducing time-to-market.”
The company is also advancing automation by enabling intelligent software agents to communicate across devices autonomously, streamlining workflows in robotics, industrial systems, and other smart setups. Recent strategic moves, including acquisitions, further enhance the company’s capabilities in areas like automotive perception, reducing reliance on cloud infrastructure.
Through these initiatives, Ambarella aims to create a full-stack ecosystem for edge intelligence combining hardware, software, and developer support to meet India’s growing demand for smart infrastructure, surveillance, robotics, and industrial automation. They mention their goal is to make edge AI efficient, scalable, and locally relevant.
The full interview, offering a detailed look at Ambarella’s strategy and innovations, will be published soon, stay tuned.
