What You Will Do

  1. Knowledge of EDA CAD tools, preferably Cadence or Altium.
  2. Knowledge of IPC-7351.
  3. Knowledge of basic electronic circuits and electronic and mechanical components.
  4. Ability to search the Internet to locate datasheets, footprints, and 3D models.
  5. Ability to effectively communicate with engineering, manufacturing, and purchasing groups.
  6. Ability to work with component manufacturers and suppliers to obtain additional information.
  7. Knowledge of 3D mechanical software, SolidWorks or NX, is a plus but not required.
  8. Experience with databases such as Access, Team Centre.
  9. Be able to maintain Excel spreadsheets.
  10. Good computer skills: Microsoft Office tools.
  11. Good written and oral communication skills in English.
  12. Ability to work well in cross-functional teams.
  13. Demonstrated ability to self-motivate and prioritise workload.
  14. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required, as they will need to work closely with various stakeholders within the organisation
  15. Should possess strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

3+ Years of experience, strong knowledge of electronic component types, footprints, symbols, and related standards. The candidate should also have experience with ECAD tools such as Cadence OrCAD, Altium Designer, IPC-7351. Awareness of compliance standards (e.g., RoHS, ISO).

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Create, update, and maintain the electronic component library, including schematic symbols and footprints.
  • Validate component data for accuracy and compliance using datasheets and manufacturer information.
  • Perform duplicate checks, technical analysis, and part validations as part of ECAD activities.
  • Collaborate with PCB designers, requestors, and engineers to resolve library-related issues.
  • Work with component engineers to define new parts and extract key information from datasheets.
  • Verify and validate components using ECAD tools to meet design constraints.
  • Support design and procurement teams with component selection and issue resolution.
  • Suggest alternatives for obsolete or discontinued parts and help manage component lifecycle data.
  • Use tools like DFR, Altium, Allegro, Excel, and PowerPoint for design and reporting activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement, cost optimisation, and knowledge sharing across the team.
