A compact cable assembly can simplify RF connections between wireless modules and external antennas across industrial systems. How?

Amphenol RF has introduced MMCX cable assemblies designed to improve RF connectivity between wireless communication modules and external antennas. Intended for industrial equipment and connected vehicles, the solution supports dependable signal transmission up to 3 GHz while simplifying integration in applications that rely on GPS, Wi Fi, telemetry, and other wireless technologies.
As conventional interconnects can add complexity during installation and may not offer the flexibility required for equipment operating in harsh environments, the assemblies address this by pairing straight and right angle MMCX plug connectors with bulkhead SMA, TNC, RP TNC, and N Type jack connectors. This between series configuration creates a secure panel mounted connection that bridges compact internal interfaces with durable external connectors.
Built on flexible RG 174 cable, the design supports short distance and lower frequency RF communication while maintaining consistent electrical performance. The compact construction also makes it suitable for applications where space is limited without compromising mechanical reliability. This enables easier integration into agricultural, construction, and mining equipment, as well as industrial communication systems that operate under vibration, dust, and continuous use.
Available in standard lengths from three to 48 inches, the cable assemblies reduce the need for custom RF cable fabrication and shorten development time. By providing ready to integrate RF interconnects, they allow engineers to focus on system design rather than connector compatibility. As industrial automation, connected infrastructure, and wireless monitoring continue to expand, compact RF connectivity solutions such as these are becoming increasingly important for building reliable communication systems.
