Expanded lineup of automotive-grade hybrid aluminum capacitors delivers higher ripple current and lower profiles for modern power-supply designs.

Taiyo Yuden has started volume production of its upgraded conductive polymer hybrid aluminum electrolytic capacitors branded as the HVX-J and HTX-J series designed to meet rising demands for higher ripple current and flexible layout options in automotive and industrial power systems.
The new series builds on the company’s earlier HVX and HTX families but pushes performance with significantly higher rated ripple current and a lower overall profile. A standout example in the lineup, part number RAHTX331M1TFH0002JX, offers a roughly 70 % increase in rated ripple current compared with its predecessor, addressing the more severe demands of modern electrified vehicle subsystems and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).
The key features are:
- Higher rated ripple current compared to previous HVX/HTX series (e.g., ~70 % improvement)
- Lower-profile designs across the series for tighter power layouts
- Broad size range (φ8×10 mm to φ12.5×13.5 mm)
- AEC-Q200 compliant for automotive environments
- Suited for noise suppression and power smoothing in EV/ADAS power circuits
Thirty-six variants are now available in five core package sizes ranging from φ8×10 mm up to φ12.5×13.5 mm, giving designers more flexibility to fit capacitors into tight power modules. All parts comply with AEC-Q200 stress test standards for passive components, making them suitable for automotive use.
Hybrid capacitors combine a conductive polymer electrolyte with a traditional aluminum oxide dielectric. This hybrid construction leverages the low equivalent series resistance (ESR) of conductive polymers and the self-healing properties of aluminum electrolytics to deliver both performance and reliability important for noise suppression and power smoothing in control circuits such as electric power steering and safety-critical applications.
