A new ultra-compact touchscreen interface proves that industrial control doesn’t need a large display to deliver big functionality — combining Modbus RTU/TCP support, bright visuals, and easy PLC integration in a device no bigger than a phone.

Industrial interfaces are going small — without giving up performance. DISPLAY VISIONS’ new EA-HMI touch operating units prove that even a device the size of a mobile phone can deliver full-scale Modbus control and visualization for factory systems.
Available in 2.8-inch and 4.3-inch versions, the EA-HMI displays are designed for installations where every millimeter of space counts — yet functionality can’t be compromised. These ultra-compact HMIs integrate seamlessly with more than 20 PLC families, including models from Siemens, Beckhoff, Allen Bradley, and Mitsubishi. Supporting both Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP, the units act as Modbus slaves, allowing flexible deployment across legacy and modern systems alike.
The key specifications include:
- Supported protocols: Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP
- Data types supported: Coil, discrete, input, holding registers, and 32-bit floating-point values
- Interface design tool: Free HMI Designer (WYSIWYG software for rapid UI creation)
- Display brightness: 1000 cd/m² for readability in sunlight and low-light conditions
- Mounting options: Wall or front-panel installation
Ease of integration is a central design theme. The EA-HMI units support all Modbus data types — coil, discrete, input, and holding — and handle 32-bit floating-point values for applications requiring real-time calculations or analog data handling. Each screen element, from numeric fields to bar graphs and icons, can be freely mapped to Modbus registers, giving engineers granular control over data visualization.
To simplify development, the company provides its free HMI Designer software. The drag-and-drop WYSIWYG tool enables engineers to design user interfaces intuitively, link registers to display elements, and preview functionality instantly. For teams with limited design resources, the company also offers fully customized interface design services.
Despite their size, the EA-HMI units are built for demanding environments. A screen brightness of 1000 cd/m² ensures readability in low-light or outdoor settings, while the robust construction supports wall or front-panel mounting in industrial cabinets and machinery.Compact, readable, and protocol-ready, the EA-HMI series gives OEMs and system integrators a way to bring modern, touch-based interfaces to tight control spaces — from test rigs and HVAC systems to mobile industrial equipment.
