Nuvoton Technology has introduced the NuMicro M3331 series, a 32-bit microcontroller family aimed at supporting secure and connected embedded systems. Built around the Arm Cortex-M33 core, the series is positioned for applications where processing efficiency, data protection, and long-term reliability are increasingly critical. As industrial and IoT deployments expand, the need to handle complex workloads while maintaining system security continues to grow.

From a system design perspective, the series allows developers to process control logic, sensor data, and communication tasks locally, helping improve response times and reduce reliance on external compute resources. At the same time, integrated hardware-level security features address concerns around firmware integrity and intellectual property protection. Support for modern connectivity standards further simplifies integration into distributed and networked environments, making it suitable for a wide range of industrial and smart infrastructure use cases.

At its core, the series runs at up to 180 MHz and includes DSP instructions and a floating-point unit for efficient data processing. Security is handled through features such as Secure Boot, TrustZone-based partitioning, and eXecute-Only Memory, creating multiple layers of protection. The platform is also designed for demanding conditions, with support for operating temperatures from -40°C to +105°C, along with ECC-enabled Flash and SRAM parity checks to improve data reliability.

Connectivity options include interfaces such as I3C, CAN FD, USB 2.0, and SD host support, enabling faster communication between sensors, controllers, and storage. Additional capabilities like a high-speed ADC, multiple PWM outputs, and dedicated LED control interfaces support applications requiring precise signal control. Development is supported through evaluation boards, RTOS compatibility, and software tools, helping streamline deployment.
