With distortion-free imaging, automated correction, and smart factory connectivity, it delivers reliable, high-speed inspection for applications from electronics to automotive and medical manufacturing.

KEYENCE Corporation has expanded its telecentric measurement lineup with the launch of the TM-X5000 Series, a high-precision inline measurement system featuring a newly introduced ultra-wide ø120 mm field of view model. The series promises unprecedented accuracy, speed, and stability in dimensional inspection, making it a versatile solution for industries ranging from automotive and electronics to medical device manufacturing.
It has a dual telecentric optical system that delivers distortion-free imaging and guaranteed accuracy across the full measurement area. Unlike conventional systems, the company’s proprietary optics achieve telecentricity of just 0.0001°, enabling uniform measurement even for misaligned or moving targets. Combined with a high-sensitivity CMOS sensor and a high-brightness InGaN green LED, the system achieves exposure times as short as 25 μs—forty times faster than standard models—allowing blur-free inspection of high-speed production lines.
The key features are:
- Four sensor head options: ø6 mm, ø40 mm, ø65 mm, ø120 mm
- High repeatability: down to ±0.03 µm
- Measurement accuracy: up to ±0.2 µm
- Flexible for diverse applications: from fine wires and battery terminals to bearings and camshafts
Ease of use is another hallmark: it features intuitive configuration tools, automated position correction, and support for more than 100 simultaneous measurements, including GD&T evaluations, defect detection, and foreign particle analysis. Its simple optical-axis alignment function eliminates the need for post-setup calibration, while pre-calibration with traceability to international standards ensures confidence out of the box.
Beyond accuracy and speed, it reduces downtime and setup time. Archived images can be re-measured to streamline startup adjustments, while statistical and trend analysis tools allow for real-time process optimization. Compatibility with EtherCAT, PROFINET, and EtherNet/IP ensures seamless integration into smart factory environments.
