Receipts are getting bigger and businesses need speed. See the new thermal printheads that print, last long, and use eco-friendly paper.

Retailers, restaurants, and service providers are struggling to keep up with the growing demand for faster, clearer, and more sustainable receipt printing. With digital payments, self-checkouts, and coupon systems expanding, receipts now carry more information than ever. Existing printheads often fall short in speed, durability, and eco-friendliness.
Kyocera Corporation has introduced the TPA Series thermal printhead for POS receipt applications to meet this demand. Designed for use in convenience stores, restaurants, drugstores, and other service industries, the new series achieves high-quality printing at an industry leading speed of 350 mm per second.
The TPA Series includes three models: TPA 80 8TCC2 PFS, TPA 80 8TCC2 PFS2, and TPA 80 8TCC2 PFS3. Each model addresses common challenges in retail printing by combining speed, stability, durability, and environmental compatibility.
Kyocera claims that its proprietary heating element formation technology ensures excellent thermal response, producing sharp, high-definition characters from start to finish, even at maximum speed. By improving the printhead structure and enhancing heat conduction from the heating element, Kyocera has widened the allowable range of mounting positions. This enables stable and consistent printing across the full width and on a variety of media.
Proprietary film formation technology enhances corrosion and wear resistance, which minimizes wear and extends product life. This ensures reliable performance even in high-volume and continuous-use environments.
The TPA Series provides support for Blue4est paper, a thermal paper developed by Koehler Paper. Blue4est is phenol-free, recyclable, and does not rely on chemical color developers, making it more sustainable. At the same time, it maintains high-quality output across different media types.
With receipts carrying more data and businesses adopting systems that reduce labor and maintenance costs, the need for fast, durable, and eco-friendly thermal printing continues to grow. Kyocera’s new series is designed to directly address these challenges while supporting sustainable practices for the future.
