AI And Edge Processing For Compact Devices

Want small devices to run AI and real-time tasks? These modules make it work, saving power and handling processing at the edge.

Edge and IoT applications often face challenges like limited processing power, high energy consumption, small form factors, and long-term availability requirements. ADLINK’s NXP-based IMX95 modules are built to tackle these issues, letting developers add high-performance AI, vision, and real-time processing to space- and power-constrained devices.

For industries from aerospace and automotive to medical, industrial, and smart cities, the modules bring performance, efficiency, and reliability. They solve problems like slow AI inference at the edge, complex sensor integration, and costly manual assembly, while supporting long-term deployment with a 15-year product lifecycle.

The modules use the NXP i.MX95 processor, which combines up to six Cortex-A55 cores with Cortex-M7 and M33 cores for real-time control. An integrated eIQ Neutron Neural Processing Unit delivers up to 2 TOPS for AI tasks, enabling applications such as smart sensors, portable medical analyzers, compact robotics, and intelligent retail kiosks—all while keeping power consumption low.

Graphics and vision tasks are handled by an Image Signal Processor, Video Processing Unit, and Arm Mali G310 GPU, with flexible outputs including DSI and LVDS. Memory options reach 8GB LPDDR4L RAM and 256GB eMMC storage, supporting complex processing without slowing the system. Connectivity covers USB 2.0/3.0 and high-speed Ethernet with Precision Time Protocol, easing integration across industrial and commercial networks.

ADLINK offers two main module options:

  • OSM-IMX95: A compact, cost-effective module designed for rugged, soldered-down deployment. It simplifies assembly, lowers carrier board costs, and supports industrial-grade reliability. Ideal for smart city sensors, portable healthcare devices, and small robotics, it allows high-performance AI in constrained spaces.
  • LEC-IMX95: A flexible, high-performance module for scalable edge and IoT applications. It enables intelligent retail kiosks, advanced audio systems, AI traffic control, and industrial gateways. With optional 10GbE, secure boot, and real-time control, it ensures deterministic performance while supporting both standard and low-volume production.

The company claims that these modules help engineers embed AI, vision, and real-time analytics into devices that need to be small, efficient, reliable, and scalable, while reducing assembly complexity and production costs.
