A new fanless, ultra-compact industrial gateway arrives with wide-temperature operation, rich I/O, and hardened reliability targeting factories, transport, smart cities, and distributed edge systems.

A new ultra-compact industrial IoT gateway by IBASE technology has entered the edge-computing market, bringing a leaner, more cost-efficient platform for automation, remote monitoring, and distributed AI workloads. Built around low-power Intel Atom processors, the system is engineered to deliver stable, fanless performance in installations where power efficiency, ruggedization, and space savings matter more than raw throughput.
The gateway positions itself as a streamlined successor to earlier industrial edge systems, offering essential industrial-grade reliability while lowering deployment costs. What stands out immediately is its operating envelope: the device accepts a broad 9–36V DC input range. Combined with over/under/reverse voltage protection, it’s aimed squarely at harsh-environment deployments, factory control boxes, field enclosures, wayside systems, and compact machinery where thermal and electrical variability are the norm.
The key features are:
- Fanless, ultra-compact edge gateway built on low-power Intel Atom processors.
- Operates from –40°C to +70°C with 9–36V DC input and built-in power protections.
- Dual 2.5GbE, USB-C (DP + USB 3.2), HDMI, DP, multiple USB/COM interfaces.
- Onboard fTPM 2.0 for hardware-secured authentication and device integrity.
- Supports DIN-rail, wall-mount, and desktop installation for versatile deployment.
Connectivity is a central focus. The unit integrates dual 2.5GbE ports, multiple USB and COM interfaces, and both HDMI and DisplayPort for display or diagnostics. A single USB-C port doubles as DisplayPort and USB 3.2, widening options for high-bandwidth peripherals. These features make it suitable for edge aggregation tasks such as sensor fusion, protocol translation, machine connectivity, and real-time field analytics.
Security gets attention as well, with onboard fTPM 2.0 providing hardware-level authentication for industrial networks, a critical requirement as factories and infrastructure move to distributed, cyber-secure architectures. The system’s compact, fanless enclosure supports DIN-rail, wall-mount, and desktop installation, enabling rapid fitment in control cabinets, equipment racks, and constrained mechanical spaces.
By targeting smart manufacturing, transportation management, retail analytics, environmental sensing, and smart-city grids, the gateway is positioned as a plug-and-play edge node for both brownfield and greenfield IoT deployments. Its combination of small footprint, rugged design, and broad connectivity makes it suited for scenarios where continuous uptime and low maintenance are paramount.
