Making Compact IoT Devices Easier

Are you struggling to build small, smart industrial devices? A compact solution can make integration easy, adds AI at the edge, and keeps software secure for years.

Lino Family: Connector-Based Flexibility for High-Volume Devices

Many industrial IoT developers face challenges with building compact, reliable devices that still offer flexibility for future upgrades. Space constraints, integration complexity, and the need for long-term software support often slow down development and increase costs. Edge AI capabilities are increasingly required, but fitting advanced processing into small industrial devices is difficult. Additionally, ensuring secure software updates, remote management, and regulatory compliance adds another layer of complexity.

To address these challenges, Toradex introduces the Lino Computer on Module (CoM) family, designed specifically for space-constrained industrial devices. The Lino modules offer a cost-optimized, connector-based platform that simplifies integration and serviceability while supporting high-volume production.

Built for controllers, gateways, smart sensors, and handheld systems, the Lino family delivers industrial-grade reliability and can operate in extreme temperatures from -40°C to +85°C. i.MX 93 variants include a 0.5 TOPS NPU, enabling entry-level on-device machine learning for smart sensing and analytics at the edge.

The modules are complemented by the Verdin-Lino Adapter, allowing Lino modules to work on Verdin-compatible carrier boards. This provides immediate access to the Verdin ecosystem and enables testing or deployment on existing Verdin designs.

All Lino modules come with full Toradex software support, including a Yocto Reference Image and Torizon, a long-term-supported Linux platform. Torizon enables secure OTA updates, device monitoring, remote access, and helps simplify compliance with the EU Cyber Resilience Act. Its integration with Visual Studio Code accelerates development while ensuring production reliability and security.

Key highlights of the Lino family:

  • Ultra-Compact 30×30 mm, dual connector design for easy integration and faster development
  • Industrial-grade reliability for long life and robust performance
  • AI at the edge with 0.5 TOPS NPU on i.MX 93 variants
  • Secure, long-term software support with Torizon Linux, OTA updates, and remote management

“Lino provides connector-based ease of use for rapid integration and serviceability. This empowers customers to design next-generation, intelligent, space-constrained devices with confidence, scalability, and long-term support,” Samuel Imgrueth, CEO at Toradex.
