Infineon Technologies AG has launched the ID Key S USB, the latest addition to its new ID Key family, to meet growing demand for secure, hardware-backed authentication. The product addresses rising cybersecurity threats and the need for safer online transactions by offering a compact, high-security solution for USB and USB/NFC token devices.

Designed for a wide range of use cases, the ID Key S USB supports certificate-based authentication, FIDO authentication with passkeys, digital signatures, encryption, software protection, access control, and cryptocurrency wallets. It combines the Infineon SLC38 security controller with a USB bridge controller in a single system-in-package. This integration simplifies deployment, reduces the number of components, and lowers overall costs.

To support demanding applications, the device is powered by a 32-bit CPU running at 100 MHz and includes 24 kB of RAM for fast, secure operation. It also offers up to 800 kB of non-volatile memory to store cryptographic keys, applications, and data.

The ID Key S USB meets top security benchmarks, with certification to Common Criteria EAL 6+ (high) and compliance with FIPS 140-3 hardware requirements. This allows customers to apply for FIPS 140-3 certification for their own products. Its small size—just 4 x 4 x 0.85 mm—makes it ideal for integration into space-constrained token devices.

“As the market shifts towards more secured and convenient authentication methods, we see a growing trend towards the adoption of advanced security solutions," said Maurizio Skerlj, Senior Vice President and Product Line Head Authentication”; Identity Solutions at Infineon’s Connected Secure Systems Division. "With the ID Key S USB, we are well-positioned to address this trend and provide our customers with a robust solution that meets their needs.”
