The timing chips combine Ethernet and PCIe clocks in one chip. They help reduce parts, save space, and support faster networks, servers, and machines.

Skyworks Solutions, Inc. has released four new timing products—the SKY63104, SKY63105, SKY63106 jitter attenuating clocks and the SKY62101 ultra-low jitter clock generator. These are the first timing devices in the industry that can generate both Ethernet and PCI Express (PCIe) spread spectrum clocks from a single chip, while maintaining ultra-low jitter. Each output is independently programmable for Ethernet, PCIe, or general-purpose use, meeting the needs of high-speed systems across various sectors.
Built using Skyworks’ fifth-generation DSPLL and MultiSynth technologies, the devices deliver 18 femtosecond RMS phase jitter for 224G PAM4 Ethernet SerDes and support PCIe clocking across Gen 1 through Gen 6. They are designed for next-generation internet infrastructure (routers, switches, OTN equipment), data centers (spine and leaf switches, top-of-rack systems, SmartNICs, AI accelerators), and industrial applications (medical imaging, test and measurement, broadcast, satellite communications).
Each device comes in a compact 8x8mm QFN package with 12 configurable outputs. They support frequencies from 8kHz to 3.2GHz and offer multiple signal formats including LVDS, HCSL, LVPECL, LVCMOS, S-LVDS, and CML. Output-to-output skew is as low as ±50ps, with optional fine delay adjustments—addressing the precise clocking needs of 800G/1200G/1600G networks and PCIe Gen 6 systems.
Key features include:
- Spread-spectrum support for EMI management
- Compliance with SyncE (G.8262), ITU-T (G.812, G.813), and Telcordia (GR-1244, GR-253) standards
- Hitless switching with phase transients down to 35ps
- ClockBuilder Pro software for simple configuration
By combining Ethernet, PCIe, and general-purpose clocks into a single chip, these timing solutions reduce part count, simplify design, and speed up development.
