Running advanced AI without consuming too much power, overheating, or slowing down development is a big challenge. The edge devices from smart appliances to autonomous robots, they all face this problem. Synaptics’ Astra SL2600 Series of Edge AI processors aims to solve this by combining high performance, energy efficiency, and developer-friendly tools in one platform.

The series targets a wide range of devices: home and factory automation systems, healthcare monitors, retail terminals, UAVs, casual gaming devices, and EV charging stations. For developers and manufacturers, the family simplifies AI integration, enabling faster time-to-market while supporting diverse applications—from battery-powered and passively cooled devices to industrial-grade vision systems.

At the core, the SL2610 processors run on the Synaptics Torq Edge AI platform, which makes AI programming easier through open-source compilers and runtime support. They integrate Arm Cortex-A55 and Cortex-M52 cores with Helium, Mali GPUs, and security features such as an immutable root of trust, threat detection, and a crypto coprocessor for demanding AI workloads. The platform also brings Google’s Coral RISC-V NPU to production, allowing dynamic AI operator support for future-proof designs. Connectivity is unified under Synaptics Veros, supporting Wi-Fi 6/6E/7, Bluetooth/BLE, Thread, and UWB, reducing complexity and ensuring reliable connections across IoT devices.

“With the Astra SL2610 product line, Synaptics is redefining what’s possible for Edge AI. Through industry-leading power efficiency and breakthrough multimodal AI acceleration, these processors deliver the architectural foundation for customers to design scalable, next-generation IoT solutions,” said Vikram Gupta, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Edge AI IoT Processors, Synaptics.
